Skerryvore Asset Management’s Global Emerging Markets All-Cap Equity Fund has received a Morningstar Analyst Rating™ of ‘Gold’ (as of 6 February 2023) and was awarded the 2023 Morningstar Australia Fund Manager of the Year – Undiscovered Manager.
Skerryvore was established in 2019 in Edinburgh, Scotland, in partnership with Bennelong Funds Management’s UK arm, BennBridge. The Fund was launched in Australia for institutional investors in December 2020 and retail investors in August 2021.
In its research report, Morningstar stated: “Despite being a relatively new offering, the Skerryvore Global Emerging Markets All-Cap Equity Fund earns our highest conviction, driven by our high regard for the investment team and process.
“The investment process is well-tested with a preference for founder/family-led businesses that have strong alignment to shareholder interests.
“The research effort is both deep and broad, utilising an extensive network of in-country contacts for insights and opinions.”
In addition to the Morningstar Analyst Rating™ of ‘Gold’, Skerryvore was awarded ‘Fund Manager of the Year – Undiscovered Manager’ in the 2023 Morningstar Australia Awards in late February.
The annual Awards, now in its 23rd year, recognise and celebrate the best of the Australian fund management profession who are selected by Morningstar’s manager research analysts. Award finalists and winners are determined by a combination of qualitative research; risk-adjusted medium- to long-term performance track records; and performance in the 2022 calendar year.
“This award is a reflection of all the hard work the team has put in since establishing Skerryvore three and a half years ago. It’s been an investment journey of more than 20 years to get to this point, with many lessons learned along the way,” said Glen Finegan, Skerryvore’s lead portfolio manager.
“Most importantly, we’re continuing to work to deliver strong investment results for our clients within the fund. Our goal has always been to create a high conviction portfolio of reasonably valued, high quality companies that are exposed to, or operate in, emerging markets to meet investors’ long-term needs.”
The Fund typically holds between 40 and 80 stocks. Its benchmark is the MSCI Emerging Market Index, and the minimum suggested investment timeframe is five years.
